TOOWOOMBA – GLADSTONE RAIL LINK
Converging with the planned Australian Rail Track Corporation (‘ARTC’) inland railway at Oakey, the Toowoomba to Gladstone railway development has been labelled by the Queensland Government as a priority for the State. A vital cog in the State’s future prosperity, the proposed Toowoomba-Gladstone high-speed freight rail strategy will provide a sustainable integrated transport system that balances each of the region’s economic, social and environmental objectives. I-PG has already laid significant groundwork behind this strategy.
Using state-of-the-art technology and enhanced rail engineering techniques, the corridor structure will provide for high-speed train operations up to 120kph consistent with an overhead track clearance height of 6.6mtrs to allow for double stack container operations and a horizontal width of 8.8mtrs to allow for the transportation of over-dimensional cargoes.
Traversing through one of Queensland’s most productive and resource rich regions that features prime agricultural land and extensive deposits of export commodities namely: thermal coal, coal seam gas (CSG), petroleum and other minerals, the railway in conjunction with the established Port of Gladstone will provide a significant step-change in transportation efficiency and productivity.
